Disagreement over delegates list stalls National Delegate election in C’River
CALABAR – THE Ensuing crisis in Cross River State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, the PDP, did not allow the local government congresses to take place in the state to elect National Delegates that would vote during the presidential primaries of party.
The state party officials are said to have rejected the list of ward delegates brought by the national officials as that of delegates elected on Saturday last week suspecting that the list is not the authentic list of …delegates elected in the state.

following disagreements between the Gody Agba lieutenants and the party
officials at the secretariat on the list of ward delegates to vote in
the local government congresses to elect the National Delegates.

A contingent of the Quick Intervention Service, QIS, a combined team of soldiers, police and naval officials was drafted on Saturday morning to seal up the PDP secretariat forcing the state party executive officials and the visiting national officials to conduct the delegates election in the state to The Transcorp Metropolitan Hotel to reconcile the differences between the two groups.
Ntufam John Okon, the PDP Chairman for the state said the party officials and the visiting electoral officials from Abuja are sorting out the list of delegates and “If we are able to sort the list out today along with the Court Injunctions instituted against the conduct of the election, then we will go ahead with the election today , if not, the election will be conducted on Sunday”.
As things stand, the party officials are not allowed to gain entry into their offices at the party secretariat.
